International

International cups and the world circuit.

Outside Argentina, England and Florida, polo has a set of historic international matches and a circuit of high-level club seasons in Spain, France, the Gulf and India. Here is what each looks like now, with recent results by year.

The Westchester Cup: England against the USA

The Westchester Cup is the international series between Great Britain (listed as England in the HPA's results from 2009) and the United States. The HPA's results list records the first match in 1886 at Newport, Rhode Island, won by Great Britain. The cup lapsed after 1939 and was revived in 1992. Wikipedia notes that it is also called the International Polo Cup.

The most recent edition we found was played on 31 March 2023 at the USPA National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida. England won 12-9, with Tommy Beresford captaining for the first time. The HPA called it the first away win in the series since 2009, and the USPA noted that the USA still led the series 11 wins to 9. A USPA brand release summarised in search results said it was the first Westchester Cup shown on ESPN; we could not confirm that from the release itself.

Modern editionWinner and venue (HPA list)
1992United States, at Windsor
1997Great Britain, at Windsor
2009England, at the International Polo Club
2013England 12-11, at Windsor
2018England 12-6, at Berkshire
2019United States, at International Polo Club Palm Beach
2023England 12-9, at the USPA National Polo Center

Wikipedia's list differs from the HPA's: it leaves out the 2018 England win and adds two 2012 matches that the HPA does not show. We found no Westchester Cup in 2024, 2025 or 2026, and no announcement of the next one.

The Cup of the Americas: the USA against Argentina

According to Wikipedia, the Cup of the Americas between US and Argentine teams began in 1928. The United States won the first two series, and Argentina has won from 1936 onward. We found no modern edition in current sources, and no full results list from a primary source, so we cannot say when it was last played. The international era page has more of the history.

The Coronation Cup

England's annual home international, on the HPA's International Day at Guards, is covered with its results on the UK high goal page.

Sotogrande, Spain

The Sotogrande season runs from April to September in four parts: Spring, Early Summer, International Summer and End of Summer. The high-goal International Summer is played at Los Pinos, officially Ayala Polo Club Sede Los Pinos since the grounds were leased to Ayala in 2021. Other grounds include Ayala's San Enrique fields, Puente de Hierro (opened 1992), Rio Sotogrande, Dos Lunas at San Martin del Tesorillo and Santa Maria Polo Club.

The 2026 tournament was the 55th Ayala Polo Club International Tournament (27 July to 29 August 2026). Its Gold Cup (Copa de Oro) ran from 17 to 29 August, with high, medium and low handicap divisions. One summary rates the high division at 20 to 22 goals; we could not confirm that.

YearCopa de Oro, high handicap final
2022Dubai 12, Marques de Riscal 9
2023Dubai
2024Calatagan 15, ATL Marine and Energy 14 (31 August 2024). Calatagan's four players totalled 21 goals.
2025Amanara 13, Dos Lunas 9
2026Dubai 16, Sainte Mesme 9 (29 August 2026), Dubai's fifth win

Earlier in the 2026 International Summer, Amanara beat Dubai 14-11 for the high-handicap Silver Cup (15 August) and Ayala beat Dos Lunas IQ 13-8 for the Bronze Cup (1 August).

France: Chantilly and Deauville

Chantilly's summer festival at the Ferme d'Apremont, on the Domaine de Chantilly, brings together players of 21 nationalities and more than 1,200 horses, according to the club, with four tournaments running at once. The flagship is the high-goal Open de France BARNES, with a women's Open de France alongside it.

The 26th Open de France ran from 3 to 20 September 2026. The field size differs by source: the club's July preview said 13 teams and 52 players, while Prensa Polo's September report described 12 teams in four groups. In the final on 20 September 2026, Kazak (Sebastien Aguettant, Pedro Chavanne, Leon Donoso, Teodoro Lacau) beat Akasha 10-9. Leon Donoso, 16, became the tournament's youngest MVP. Octogone were the defending champions.

Deauville's Coupe d'Or (the Barriere Deauville Polo Cup) is played at the Deauville-La Touques racecourse. Event listings give the 2026 edition as the 77th, from 17 to 30 August 2026, at 14 to 16 goals, and credit Talandracas with the 2025 title, its seventh; we could not confirm these from the organiser. We did not find the 2026 winner.

Dubai and the UAE

The Dubai Gold Cup series is a winter event. The 2026 final, at Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, went to Dubai Wolves by Thera, 11-8 over UAE Polo, which the organisers described as six-time champions of the event. Felix Esain was MVP (report dated 14 February 2026). The Bentley Cup final the same day went to Habtoor Polo, 10-7 over Ghantoot Polo.

India: the Jaipur season

India's season runs from September to March and finishes in Jaipur. The 2026-27 season began on 1 September 2026 at the Rajasthan Polo Club grounds. The Jaipur Polo Team, led by Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, won the 2026 Jaipur Trophy 7-6 at Guards Polo Club on Indian Polo Day in England.

Its record for 2025-26 depends on the source. Republic World counts three tournament titles from 21 matches, with 17 wins. An IANS report, seen only in a search summary, called its March 2026 SMS Gold Vase win (6 to 5.5 over Krishna Polo) its ninth title of the season.

Other events

We found reports of a Morocco win over the USA (9-5) in the sixth Mohammed VI International Polo Cup in Rabat in May 2026, and of Australia's Australasian Gold Cup dating to a first Australia against New Zealand contest in Sydney in May 1925. Both rest on single or summary sources we could not confirm.
